The Friends of the Takoma Park Maryland Library’s annual membership meeting will be held this year on Thursday, June 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the Children’s Room at the Takoma Park library. This will be our first in-person annual meeting since the pandemic hit. As usual, we will have a featured speaker, followed by a brief membership meeting to elect members to the board.

This year, our guest speaker will be Kevin Blackistone, a sports columnist for the Washington Post, visiting professor at the University of Maryland, and author of thought-provoking columns and journal articles about the intersection of race, sports, and the media. Mr. Blackistone was to be our featured speaker at our 2020 meeting, but all was cancelled due to the pandemic lockdown.

At our membership meeting, any member of the Friends whose dues are current may vote. You may also be a candidate for the board. If you are interested in serving on the board, send an email to ftpmlvolunteer1@gmail.com with a brief biography and your nomination will be considered. We will also take nominations from the floor at the meeting.

For more information about the annual meeting, about Mr. Blackistone, and about current and prospective board members, see our spring 2022 newsletter by clicking on this link.
