Since 2007, Takoma Park has welcomed spring with colorful poetry posters along Carroll Avenue, from the Junction to Old Town, in city parks, and at the Library and Community Center.
These posters are the result of a collaboration between the Friends and the Montgomery College School of Art and Design, in which second-year graphic arts students design posters of poems that a small committee selects each year.
Over these years, students have designed more than 200 poetry posters by American/U.S. poets as well as translations of poems from Arabic, Hebrew, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Hungarian, and Welsh.
Spring for Poetry in Takoma Park has become part of the cityscape.
Below is an archive of most of the Spring for Poetry posters going back several years. They are arranged by year and alphabetically by author.
