What is Fixit Clinic?
A Fixit Clinic is not a repair service. It is a do-it-together activity where people learn how to assess, disassemble, and repair their broken household items instead of throwing them away. Volunteer Fixit coaches will work with you to troubleshoot and fix your broken item.
What kind of things are brought to a Fixit Clinic for repairs? Small appliances, computers/devices, lamps, bikes, clothing/sewing, dull knives, broken furniture, and more.
Repair is not guaranteed. While we do have an excellent track record, any specific item can have issues that make it unrepairable or we can exacerbate the problem during our attempts to repair it.
Still, a Fixit Clinic provides you with an opportunity to make a difference and repair your broken stuff instead of sending it to the landfill. With guidance from your skilled neighbor volunteers, you will also learn some basic DIY skills, as you learn to diagnose your item’s issue and repair it.
