On May 20, the Friends of the Takoma Park Maryland Library will hold its annual meeting. Generally, our annual meetings consist of a speaker (usually, an author or journalist), a brief summary of current programs, and elections to the board of directors.
This year, our speaker will be Marc Mauer, former Executive Director of The Sentencing Project and author of Race To Incarcerate. He talk about the racial politics that led to the U.S. becoming a world leader in its structure of mass incarceration.
Following Mr. Mauer’s talk, dues-paying members of FTPML will elect members to the Board of Directors. Information on who will be up for election will be sent out at a later date to our member email list.
The meeting will be held at the Library’s temporary location, at 7505 New Hampshire Ave.
Refreshments will be served.
